BMW will enter a single S1000RR superbike in this year's Isle of Man TT, the first time a BMW has been officially entered since the late 1970s. The BMW S1000RR's development rider, Rico Penzkofer, will race the bike in both the Superbike and Senior TT races. Penzkofer is returning to the island for the second time, having raced in both Supersport races there last year, he also placed fifth at last year's Macau Grand Prix. BMW first raced at the TT in 1937 and has won 30 races there, mostly in the sidecar class.

With KTM entering the TT for the first time, that gives the Isle of Man an incredibly robust field for the June race.

Aprilia USA, the North American importer and distributor of Aprilia Motorcycles and scooters has sent out an update on the recall for the 2010 Aprilia RSV4's motor, saying that replacement motors from Italy have arrived, and that the company is ready to begin replacing affected machines. Aprilia USA expects the recall to take two to three weeks to replace every RSV4 motor sold in the USA, but it's unclear how long it will take for the Noale brand to recover its lost footing with would-be Aprilia purchasers.

The recall only affects about 300 motorcycles worldwide, but Aprilia has sent factory technicians from Noale to the US in order to brief Aprilia service technicians on the motor swap procedure. Aprilia's PR machine is in full-force on the RSV4 recall because of the importance the bike has to the Italian company, which is trying to make a comeback based on the RSV4's success both with the public at-large and on the race track.

 

As we have written earlier, the prestigious Best International Builder award of the Verona Expo 2010 was won by Yuri Shif Custom`s DUster. Shortly afterwards we made contact with the PR of Yuri Shif Custom (YSC) - Anastasia, who answered few questions especially for the visitors of BikerzBay.com

Could you tell us about Yuri Shif Custom.

The fame of "Yuri Shif Custom" workshop came with the "Silver Stork" motorcycle in 2004. Yuri Shif is one of the leading customizers in CIS. He and his team are dealing with bike designing for more than 10 years now. Yuri Shif Custom has more than forty bikes of individual assembling. Their bikes regularly participate in Russian and European shows and appear on the covers of specialized magazines.

Where did the idea to deal with custom bikes came from?

Yuri Shif, as well as many of his workers, were practicing auto-sport,that is why customizing has been always part of their life.

Could you tell us about your team?

Apart of the "generator of the idea" Yuri Shif, there is also a team of nine people and master-freelancers, who are working over the machine art. The colleagues of Alexander Sinkevich describe him as "the choker of the cosmic ideas of Shif"  and "the man, who is able to transform crazy ideas into material values". It is his opinion that the process of bike creation has nothing to do with urgency.

Your bikes have won other prestigious awards as well. Could you tell us about them.

«Time Machine» bike - the bike with "the most rock-n-roll" Gibson LesPaul guitar instead of the upper side of the frame had been built in honor of the famous rock band "Machina vremeni". Apart of the raring Harley Davidson Shovelhead 1979 engine, it is also interesting with its asymmetric wheel discs with real gold cover.

This bike won the prestigious «Best Craziest Bike» award at "Custombike 2007" expo in Germany.
The philosophy of the idea of this bike is: "the music is a way of time-travelling".There are signatures of all members of "Machina vremeni" band on the bike. Time Machine - this is more art-object, it is not meant to be ridden,although it could be. It is meant to be shown on expositions and bring enjoy.

For some, the aggressive lines of the Vyrus 987 C3 4V are bit too avant-garde for their delicate tastes, despite the bike’s impressive power package found nestled in its hub-center steering chassis design. Helping water down the Vyrus’ potent palette, Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi has put pen to paper to dream up a Vyrus Superbike, and what he calls the “Yellow Fever” street variant. We’re not too sure about the nomenclature, but the bikes look good. Check them both out after the jump.
